Colegno
High-end musical furniture in bent wood. Steam-bending solid timber means heating and wetting it until it will take a curve. We wanted to rework stage equipment with that technique, against a market of low-cost steel. Colegno is a considered range, made for playing music in the right conditions.
A considered approach
We worked at length with everyone the project touches: the musicians and the audience of course, but the logistics crews and the makers too, so that the product answers every constraint on it.
Made by hand
Each piece is steam-bent and clamped on a jig, one form at a time. The grain follows the curve instead of being cut across by it — which is what makes the stand rigid at a weight you can carry in one hand.
