Project
Organised by the Athletic Club La Roche-sur-Yon (ACLR), the Meeting National de La Roche-sur-Yon is one of the oldest athletics meetings in France. The organising club and its partners asked Drigaï to modernise their image and give the event a more spectacular dimension.
The event brings together rising and young talent from the French national athletics circuit, in an atmosphere of more than 1,000 people. The aim over time is to draw more and more spectators — 5,000 people by 2030, and more than 50 international athletes. Drigaï proposes a complete rethink of the event.
The pentagon at the centre of the picture
To design a coherent whole across every element of the meeting, its visual identity had to be rebuilt. La Roche-sur-Yon is a town of the Empire, and its very geometric, pentagonal plan became the basis of the graphic language. The shape carries something dynamic and sporting, and repeats across every medium, in print and on screen alike.
The call room, where the protagonists enter
Beyond gathering the competitors and checking their presence and their equipment, in a top-level meeting the call room is where the athletes are presented to the public. They are announced one by one and step out in turn from the zone in front of the yellow backdrop, so that the camera can frame each of them.
The podium, the winners' ceremony
The podium is a great moment of staging too. For the prize-giving, Drigaï designed a made-to-measure podium in the shape of the famous pentagon. The official partners have to be visible at that moment, so a large panel stands at the back, flanked by two yellow walls that stage the entrance of the athletes in turn, and of the figures presenting the awards.
Because a victory is worth a thousand words…
As a bonus, Drigaï proposes a made-to-measure medal to add to the prestige of a victory and a podium at this meeting. LRSY is set at the centre of a pentagon. Five steps stand for its five sides, and for the lanes of the track.
